Coyote

Coyote
A figure common to the culture myths of many of the North American Indian tribes, including the Achomawi, the Aschochimi, the Maidu, the Navajo, the Sia, the Tuleyone, the Yana, the Yokut, etc. He is usually depicted as being cunning and resourceful, mischievous and malicious, and corresponds to some extent to the Loki of Nordic myth. In the Tuleyone Creation Legend, however, he appears as Olle, the saviour of the world, his part as the agent of destruction having been taken by Sahte. He resembles the Blue-Jay of the Chinooks, and the Cagn or Kaggen of the African bushmen.
